Do braids hurt?
No, your braids should never cause pain. I specialize in gentle techniques, especially knotless styles, so there’s minimal tension on your scalp and edges. During your consultation, I’ll check in with you throughout the process to ensure you’re comfortable. Many clients say they feel relaxed and even fall asleep in my chair! If you’ve had bad experiences in the past, you’re in safe hands here.
What is the $30 deposit and is it refundable?
To secure your spot and give you my full, undivided attention, I require a $30 non-refundable deposit. This amount is fully applied toward the cost of your service on the day of your appointment.
The deposit protects both of us it holds your preferred time exclusively and helps me plan so I can create the beautiful, long-lasting style you deserve. If you need to reschedule with at least 48 hours’ notice, I’ll happily move your deposit to a new date (subject to availability). Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice or no-shows will forfeit the deposit.
How should I prepare my hair before my appointment?
Come with clean, dry, and detangled hair for the best results. Wash and condition your hair the night before or morning of your appointment, and avoid heavy oils, gels, or buildup. If your hair is tangled, it can add extra time to your session. I’ll take care of everything else once you’re here!
How long does a braiding appointment take?
It depends on the style and your hair length/thickness:
- Small/medium knotless or box braids: 4–6 hours
- Jumbo or bohemian styles: 3–5 hours
- Intricate Bora Bora styles: 5–7+ hours
I’ll give you a more accurate time estimate during your consultation. Bring snacks, a playlist, or something to watch — many clients turn it into self-care time!
How long do the braids last?
With proper care, most styles last 4–8 weeks. Knotless and bohemian styles often stay looking fresh longer because they’re gentler on your natural hair. I’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions so you can extend the life of your braids and keep your edges protected.
Do you provide the braiding hair, or should I bring my own?
I provide high-quality braiding hair for all styles (included in most service prices or available as an add-on). If you have a specific brand, color, or texture you love, feel free to bring it — just let me know during booking so I can advise on the right amount.
What if I’m not sure which style is right for me?
That’s exactly why every appointment starts with a personalized consultation. I’ll listen to your lifestyle, hair goals, face shape, and how much maintenance you want. Together we’ll choose the perfect style that makes you feel confident and beautiful. You can also send inspiration photos when you book!
Can I get my braids taken down or refreshed at your studio?
Yes! I offer take-down services and refresh appointments. Removing old braids properly is just as important as installing new ones to protect your natural hair. Mention it when booking so I can schedule enough time.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Life happens, but please give me at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows me to offer the spot to someone else who’s waiting. Deposits are transferable with proper notice but non-refundable. Repeated last-minute changes may require full prepayment for future bookings
